Faith in Jesus

Jesus Christ’s life, teachings, death and resurrection form the basis of the Christian religion. Jesus Christ was born about 2,000 years ago in the city of Bethlehem. As the story is told baby Jesus was born in a stable where animals were kept for lack of room in a proper inn for humans. He was very knowledgeable as a child of the Jewish faith.

Before Jesus began his ministry at the age of 30 years, he was baptised by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. After being baptized, Jesus went on a forty day fast in the dessert. When he arrived back he began to gather disciples, followers who were willing to give up everything to be in the light of God. These disciples include Simon (also known as Peter), Andrew (Peter’s brother), James, John (James’s brother). Jesus used parables to teach his disciple about the ways of eternal life. The followers of Christ were taught to worry about eternal gifts in the heavens rather than the vanities of the present world. The most important principle Jesus taught was to love God above anyone else or anything and also, to love your neighbour as you love yourself.

During His earthly ministry, many people were drawn by Jesus for the many miracles he performed. Many gathered around him to be healed. The miracles varied from turning water into wine, healing the sick, giving life to the dead, walking on water, casting the devil out of souls, making a few loaves of bread and some fish to feed a crowd of thousands of people with leftovers this drew many people to him. These miracles represented the coming of the kingdom of God.

Jesus was described in the Bible as a good shepherd willing to die for any one of his sheep. He was crucified by the Roman authorities, but rose again the third day and is ascended into heaven and sat at the right hand of God

All those who believe in Him today are known as Christians and do have the promise of eternal life.

KNOWING JESUS

Do you know Jesus?

Do you know that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the World? He is the Messiah, the saviour of the world. He came to die for our sins and resurrected the third from the grave and is now alive in the right hand of God.

Jesus is our “Lifted-up One" as the bronze serpent in the bible book of Num.21:9,

Just like Joshua in the Old Testament, Jesus is the Captain of our Salvation.

Jesus is the Wisdom and the Knowledge of God.

Jesus is the Messiah, the saving King, so long waited by the the children of Abraham the Jews. He had come once, He will come back again! Now He is with the father Jesus as our Intercessor at the Throne, His shed Blood that washes away our Sins. Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, our Triumphant King with great glory and honour.

Have you embraced Jesus as you saviour? Now is the time to accept the gift of salvation offered to all who would believe in Him. John 3:16 says

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.
